Watchtower sued for Racketeering in California

a little birdie informed me that a lawsuit against the watchtower bible & tract society, its legal department, and several individuals (perhaps lawyers in the legal department) has been filed in the superior court of the state of california, county of los angeles for, wait for it.... racketeering!.

that's right, folks, you heard it here first.

i have no other information, other than the case was stamped "aug 07 2015" and the docket number appears to be bc590675.

Australian brother and sister country band

a while back, there were some interesting posts about an award-winning australian brother and sister country music band.

they had a music video out which showed "hot button" words from the watchtower as if cut out and pasted on a wall for a backdrop.

does anyone know the name of this band and/or the title of the song i'm thinking of?

Catholic priest speaks his mind, is asked to retire

can you imagine what would happen to a jw elder who spoke his mind like this catholic priest?

while i definitely do not endorse the bronze age superstitions that most of his beliefs are based upon, i do admire his courage and apparently guileless sincerity.

you might even say his enjoys "great freedom of speech in connection with the lord.

New TV documentary about the Longo murders

last night, investigation discovery channel premiered an episode titled fatal devotion.

it was documentary about the longo murders in oregon in 2001. chris longo, recently disfellowshipped in another state for check fraud, moved his young wife and three young children out west to make a new start but wound up murdering them all and fleeing to mexico.

the series is titled final witness.

Letter about using iPads at meetings

first of all, i really appreciate it when official, especially "secret," boe letters and the like are posted here.

it's great to have that stuff on hand, straight from the horse's... uhh...mouth, when certain "friends" deny the slave would ever do or say such and such.... anyway, there have been some references to a letter they sent out about using ipads and the like during congregation meetings.

could anyone provide a scan or link to this letter?

i was walking around downtown manchester, nh this afternoon and almost fell on the sidewalk laughing.

there's this coffee shop right next to subway that i had never noticed before.

Bogus church signs

i have been lurking on jwd for years and not posted much, but i have always enjoyed keeping up with you all.

some of your experiences are heartrending, your comments priceless.. a friend (still a jw, unfortunately) sent me a picture of some church sign that said "jws are right!".

(i tried to paste a copy here, but could not figure out how to do so.
